+using people who have 0 ammo

Here's an old image I sent to Sil a few years ago to illustrate this. Currently, if someone has 0 ammo for a weapon, you can't give them any ammo for it as Jan with direct +use touching, since direct +use touching only gives ammo for the weapon they currently have equipped, and you can't equip a weapon that has 0 ammo. The odd exception to this rule is the unusual case of having 0 detpacks, but having at least 1 detpack placed in the world — the game lets you equip detpacks in this case.

You can only get ammo for 0-ammo weapons by using an ammo generator units or by picking up canisters. IMO, it seems odd that +use touching is the only method that can't do it, since it requires the most effort (two players standing in the same spot and not moving).

I can think of a couple possible solutions:
  • Allow direct +use touching to supply exactly 1 shot worth of ammo to any 0-ammo weapons.
  • Allow direct +use touching to simultaneously supply all types of ammo.
